Bring your own flavor to the con floor by hosting an Anime Detour room party!
Hotel lobby not cutting it for you? Us neither. Take the party straight to your room by hosting an Anime Detour room party!
Room Parties are parties that are held exclusively within an assigned and reserved hotel suite designated for this purpose and have been a unique aspect of Anime Detour for years, and will be for years to come. Any individual, group, club, or organization may apply to host a room party and any theme
We are here to ensure that you and all of the convention attendees strike that perfect balance of safety and good vibes. This means designating your party a centrally located hotel suite and is well advertised to congoers who may be interested.
Registering to host a room party at Anime Detour not only makes you totally awesome, but also provides you with some pretty sweet benefits:
- Listing of your party in the physical and virtual Anime Detour program book, as well as on maps throughout the hotel.
- Designated room in the Room Parties Block. You’ll be close to the convention spaces, and accessible by escalator and elevator!
- Up to four complimentary weekend badges for you and your co-hosts
- You get a “Welcome Pack” from the Room Parties Department!

A: Please make sure that you are respectful, not only to the room party hosts but to other attendees as well. Also, please clean up after yourself, we want everyone to have a good time.
A: Nope! However, it’s a great idea to tip your hosts! The room party hosts put a lot of time, effort, and love into hosting parties for you.
A: Room parties will have their hours listed in the program book, on signs outside the rooms, and on posters around the hotel. They’ll start opening up Friday evening of the convention.
A: GREAT! First, you need to register for the convention, if you haven’t already. Then you need to register your room party by completing the form. We will send you a special link, when available, to reserve your room at the hotel and other useful information. You can always contact the department with any questions you have!
A: Whatever you want, as long as everything that legally needs to be covered is covered. It’s a good idea to leave any large props in your car or hotel room, and please be aware of the size of what you’re wearing. There will be a lot of people crammed into the halls and big costumes sometimes make it harder to get through.
A: Anime Detour will be following CDC and Minnesota Department of Health regulations regarding COVID. For the latest information, please see Anime Detour’s COVID Policy.
A: There are all kinds of activities in the room parties, depending on the theme and the hosts. Some are for chilling out with cool people, playing video games, watching anime or just talking. Some are great for dancing or playing music games. Some even do fun arts and crafts! Basically room parties are a great way to find people with similar interests, hang out, and make new friends.
A: The Room Parties Department coordinates everything in regards to hosting a room party from handling the background logistics of allowing someone to host a room party, sending the room reservation link, assigning rooms, managing requests, and generally trying to make things go as smoothly as possible. We won’t help you move in, but we will make sure that you can do so!
A: They are parties hosted by convention attendees in designated rooms on the 4th and 5th floors of the Hyatt. Room parties can have almost any theme you can dream up – from anime to video games to food to music to arts and crafts, it can be very nearly anything!
A: Some room parties will be serving alcohol. You will be carded at the door of any party that is serving alcohol. Make sure to bring your ID.
