Special Events
AD Dance: Come share in the joy of our groove thing! On Saturday Night after the Masquerade, we’re hosting a dance for your enjoyment. There will be an eclectic grouping of J-Pop, K-Pop, Anime Music/Soundtracks, DDR, Techno, Industrial, Trance, Gothic, Rave, R&B, 80’s Hits, Metal, and anything else the DJ can find to get you moving!
Children’s Programming: Children’s Programming is coming to Anime Detour! Join us for fun crafts and activities throughout the weekend. We’ll be making soot sprites, flower bouquets and toilet paper roll crafts as well as playing bingo. Free with your admission but supplies are limited for each event.
Workshops: Arts and crafts activities intended for teens and adults. Sometimes we learn about traditional Japanese crafts, sometimes we just hang out and make art together. You’re bound to make friends and have fun one way or another! Free with your admission but supplies are limited for each event.
AMV Contest
The AM) contest is an exciting visual event that celebrates the creative fusion of anime visuals with music. Participants showcase their talent by crafting unique and visually stunning videos that synchronize anime scenes with carefully selected soundtracks.
A: Anime Detour cannot provide laptops for panelists.
A: Anime Detour cannot provide adapters for your device. If you require an adapter to connect via HDMI, please obtain it prior to the convention.
A: Yes! However, most Anime Detour panels are expected to be family-friendly or PG-13 at most. If the panel you are proposing is specifically about adult material, let us know in your panel submission. The Programming department will have the ultimate say in assigning an 18+ rating, and we typically have a very limited number of ID-checked 18+ panel spots, so there is a higher chance your panel will not run at the convention. If you are not assigned an 18+ rating, and can adjust the content of your panel accordingly, a suggested appropriate age for the panel can be noted in the programming guides.
A: You bet! If you have a laptop of your own and would like to use a projector and speakers to show a PowerPoint presentation, videos, or other multimedia, all non-specialty panel rooms will be equipped with appropriate technology. Each room will also have white boards and markers if you prefer. If you’d like to run your panel in the craft room or gym, which may not have projector and speakers, please note that in your panel submission.
Please note that we cannot provide laptops or HDMI adapters for your device.
A: We can’t guarantee any particular day/time, but if you will not be at the convention until a particular time or have other conflicts, just be sure to include this information when you submit your panel. We will make all efforts to accommodate reasonable conflicts.
Q: No. To ensure that everyone who wants to run a panel is able to, panels should be kept to a one hour time limit.
A: Please contact the Programming Department directly.
A: If you need to make a correction or have other info that you need verified, please contact the Programming Department to ask.
A: No. We make every effort to include all panel submissions from our attendees and rarely make cuts. If your panel is at any risk of being cut, Programming staff will be in touch with you.
A: The finalized schedule will be available on the site 3-4 weeks prior to the convention.
A: You will be sent an email notification as soon as the schedule is finalized. This typically occurs 3-4 weeks prior to the convention.
A: Anime Detour offers discounted badges for the next convention cycle to volunteers who run panels in the current year. The first three panelists for any panel that runs in the current year will receive half off their registration fee the next year. Panelists who run two or more panels this year will receive a free badge for the next year.
